Why an iPad is useful for Photographers

So today I’m getting an iPad. Let me clarify, a cheap, used one. (yes, there is such thing) I’ve been hoping to run into a deal like this for awhile: a 16gb, first gen, 3G and wifi for only $150!

You see, I was one of those apple fanatics who believe an iPad couldn’t really help me. I mean, I have my computer and my iPhone, as well as a Kindle, so what would I possibly do with an iPad…

Oh how I was wrong. But the main reason the iPad is going to come in handy is for photography. You see, when I’m traveling either to a local shoot or across the world I no longer have to worry about lugging my computer with me. I can simply get this nifty little adapter (or this one if you shoot with Compact Flash) that lets me download my images straight from my camera (in RAW format too) to the iPad. I can then transfer them to a USB drive. So now I have files stored on the iPad and USB. (I always try to make sure I have my images at least two different places)

This way I have more space on my cards and if something gets stolen I have a back up. :)

So for all you photographers out there who use the iPad for your industry, I’d love to hear any tricks you’ve found.
